The profile book that started this area of my work!

Early on in the adoption process, our adoption practitioner explained that we would need an Adoption Profile book. Looking through the pile on his desk to see what needed to be done, I felt as though they all looked the same. Game on!

Combining my skills as a graphic designer, commercial photographer with strong photo editing skills, and solid writing skills, I set to work creating a profile book that would showcase us, our lives, our families, and our home… all in a way that would allow a birth mother to truly get to know us. I understood that her decision was a difficult one on many levels… and choosing the right parents for her child was paramount. Only by putting together a profile book that showed a carefully chosen selection of photos with associated text that was thoughtfully worded would she be able to see us as someone other than just another couple in the crowd. We needed to stand out.

When we were chosen, we were told that the book did it’s job – it got us noticed, and it helped her decide to choose us. We adopted our daughter Marley right at birth, and the moment I first held her, I felt as though my heart exploded with stars. They’re spinning through my body to this day.
